Up to 120 jobs to be created as part of new £62m residential project in Newcastle

Up to 120 new jobs could be created after plans to build more than 500 homes in Newcastle on land near the city’s Kingston Park stadium have been approved, according to a recent news report into this matter. 

Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey was supported by Barton Willmore in securing approval for the plans.

The hybrid application is for the development of 529 homes spread across four phases.

Taylor Wimpey UK believes the total anticipated economic output over the construction phase would be £62.3m, with additional new homes bonus payments of £4.2m and additional council tax revenue being generated.

The plans form part of an 800-home masterplan in the Kingston Park and Kenton Bank Foot area.

Shaun Cuggy, senior planner at Barton Willmore, said: "Approval for these plans is a great step forward for Newcastle and the surrounding area.

"The Barton Willmore team worked hard to bring forward the site which was removed from the Green Belt and allocated for housing.

"Kenton Bank Foot will provide much needed housing within the commuter belt of Newcastle – and with excellent public transport links the development offers a sustainable solution to this demand."
