Hull City Council industrial action compulsory redundancies Email SMS speech notifications alerts attendance recording Time and Attendance North East management rostering employees Microsoft paperclipHull City Council has voted to move to fortnightly bin collection from next April which has resulted in threatened industrial action. A trade union claimed that the move would lead to 36 compulsory redundancies. The City Council stated: “It is too early as yet to know the full impact on staff but weekly meetings have been organised to consult with the trade unions and the council, as with all decisions, will seek to minimise the impact on any staff that may be affected.”

Email, SMS or speech notifications and alerts are available in attendance recording technology from Time and Attendance North East. The proactive system keeps management aware of rostering issues and events by automatically emailing or SMS text messaging both employees and system users. It does this using speakers attached to a PC or to an office audio distribution network. The spoken alerts are heard in a variety of voices and on screen ‘agents’ (similar to the Microsoft paperclip).
