North East motor retailer created more than 100 new jobs last year
Vertu, a Gateshead-headquartered motor retailer, managed to create no less than 103 new jobs in the North East region last year by extending its range of dealerships, a news report in the local business media has revealed.
The company, which has increased staff levels from 167 to 753 over an eight-year period, managed to achieve this by acquiring 32 dealerships and opening a further two over the course of 2013.
Robert Forrester, Vertu chief executive, said: "It is clear the UK economy is on the up, with the motor retail industry leading the way for some time now.
"It is very rewarding and pleasing to create jobs and growth and see the direct affect this has on people’s lives and on the wider economy."
