Wakefield NHS staff put a different spin on the phrase ‘burn notice’. During their protest over planned jobs losses and salary cuts they set fire to their dismissal notices sent by the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust which is in cash crisis. Approximately 70 Unison members, clerical and administration staff protested outside the trust’s head office in Wakefield. Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust stated that it must make cuts of £24 million by April at Dewsbury Hospital, Pinderfields and Pontefract General Infirmary.
