Durham Tees Valley Airport buys more land for planned extensive development

Durham Tees Valley Airport has acquired a 9.5-acre site to the north eastern edge of the airfield as part of its future development plans, a news report in the local media has revealed.

For the time being, the land is currently unused and includes the steel frame of a former hangar building, last used as a sports and tennis centre, which closed some years ago.

Airport strategic planning director Peter Nears said: "This is a significant acquisition and underlines the importance of maximising the development opportunities of the airport site. It fits well with the existing landholdings of the airport and given its position, we believe that there is potential for aviation related engineering, storage and distribution operations."

The airport’s management has also revealed the fact that they will shortly be setting out a blueprint for the business’ development over the next decade and beyond, this ‘master plan’ being set to highlight the importance of maximising the development potential of the overall site for the future of the airport and prosperity of the regional economy.

Quite obviously, such an extensive development will certainly require the implementation of a very solid and reliable workforce management system for all the contractors involved in the building process, and that’s specifically where Time & Attendance North East might be able to lend a helping hand.

Our systems are user-friendly, innovative and designed for the working environment. They also offer a wide array of features, such as support for contactless smart cards (which would really come in handy in a busy, dusty construction environment), as well as optional finger print biometrics and mobile phone SIM card support.

Moreover, the multi-user, networked, multi site Time and Attendance, Access Control, Fire Roll Call and security system includes European Working Time Directive checking and reporting and allows administrators to save up to 2000 employees, supports extensive shift management and payroll-related operations, the allocation of various pay bands, and much more.
