A man who was arrested in connection with damage caused to Scarborough Castle has been released on bail. North Yorkshire Police said extensive damage was done to parts of the castle recently, including metal post caps being removed. Leading the inquiry, PC Alasdair McNeill at Scarborough police station said: “It’s very sad that people feel the need to destroy something which has stood for many hundreds of years, is a landmark for the town and contributes to the culture and economy of the area.”
