Biometrics helps keep Northumbria Police top of the cops
Judged on the reduction in crime, Northumbria Police was ranked top in the country by recording a 15 per cent overall drop. Forces across England and Wales recorded an average fall in crime of 8%, according to a new report. The British Crime Survey (BCS) statistics includes many offences that were not reported to police. Northumbria Police was ranked top alongside the Nottinghamshire force. Individual crime categories varied widely – for example theft, criminal damage and burglary were up around Nottingham.
To foil these particular crime statistics, Time and Attendance North East installs the ultimate all-in-one security and Time and Attendance job costing smart card-based systems. These both monitor employee attendance and hours when they use the cards to clock in, while also barring access to those who do not have authorised entry. Biometric fingerprint scanners serve up two for one security as they provide irrefutable proof of identity. A miniature version for single PC-based logging in is shown in the picture. The versatility of this modular system means extra devices such as CCTV cameras and gate barriers can be controlled through the same network.
