A County Durham man is at the centre of a political storm over possible blockades by fuel activists. Father of three Andrew Spence is a farmer and haulier who was one the leaders who took part in fuel protests 12 years ago by truckers that led to 3000 petrol stations running out of fuel. He warned he would "bring Britain to a halt" unless concerns by his organisation the Fuel Lobby were addressed in sympathy with striking tanker drivers.
