Some school governors are arguing there are advantages in cutting the summer break, so they are adjusting their calendars accordingly. MP Frank Field said the six-week summer break harmed poorer children who lost out because of the lack of formal reading or writing. In Leeds, the David Young Community Academy operates a seven-term year. The Academy's calendar begins in June, immediately after exams, and has a short summer break. Last month, several schools in Halifax declared their intention to even out terms and have a four-week summer holiday.
Time and Attendance North East offers its PC Clock registering system, which is handy for schools and can be used for any number of users. There is no need for additional licences and no clocking stations are required to operate the system, while users can book in and out at their computer. Automatic and definable reports showing clockings can be viewed and printed. The reports can be customised using the Report Generator and can be printed automatically at any given time of the day.
