30 new jobs could be created in Washington under new development proposals

Up to 30 new jobs could be created in Washington under proposals put forward by property development company Jomast, a recent news report on the mater was able to reveal.

The developer logged plans for building an Aldi food store as part of a a multimillion-pound investment to redevelop the former 1970s office building at Armstrong Industrial Estate. The store would be 18,277 sq ft with customer parking and landscaping.

Jomast development director Graham Wilson said: "Armstrong House has been vacant for some time and considerable research carried out clearly demonstrated that there was no interest in either reoccupation of the building or further redevelopment for office use.

"Therefore, the proposals that we have put forward will bring an important site back into use, provide a much enhanced retail provision to local residents and create many new employment opportunities for the local community."
