British Engines’ plans for extending their Tyneside base likely to get planning permission

Plans put forward by British Engines for extending its 269,000 sq ft Tyneside base by nearly 21,000 sq have been recommended for approval by Newcastle City Council’s planning committee, a news report in the local media has revealed.

The application, due to go before the planning committee on 6 December 2013, is also seeking consent for the demolition of more than 5,400 sq ft of existing industrial space to make way for the extension of the site.

Original plans, submitted in September, included the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new 15,300 sq ft industrial building, as well as related parking, cycling and refuse facilities, which were conditionally approved by the committee.

The company has estimated that 100 new jobs will be created in the industrial area of St Peters between June 2013 and April 2016 if these plans are approved.

Any company or group of companies wishing to get involved in projects of this magnitude should also consider the implementation of a very solid and reliable workforce management system, and that’s specifically where Time & Attendance North East might be able to lend a helping hand.

Our systems are user-friendly, innovative and designed for the working environment. They also offer a wide array of features, such as support for contactless smart cards (which would really come in handy in a busy, dusty construction environment), as well as optional finger print biometrics and mobile phone SIM card support.

Moreover, the multi-user, networked, multi site Time and Attendance, Access Control, Fire Roll Call and security system includes European Working Time Directive checking and reporting and allows administrators to save up to 2000 employees, supports extensive shift management and payroll-related operations, the allocation of various pay bands, and much more.
