Ambitious North East building lobbying campaign starts

40 businesses in the North East region have already signed up for the ’Construction4Growth’ campaign, launched in partnership with CITB-ConstructionSkills, in an attempt to convince the Government to increase investment in the sector.

As revealed in a recent report on the matter, the campaign was initiated following the announcement of alarming figures for this industry sector by the Construction Skills Network (CSN), showing that the North East has suffered a 9% fall in output in 2012.

Moreover, this trend is closely related to a decrease in employment across the region, set to fall by 2% annually until 2017.

If successful, this campaign will lead to the opening of multiple construction sites and will involve a large number of workers.
