The soldier had been on sick leave and on full pay after a trial as he battled alcoholism and a marriage breakdown. Member of the Yorkshire Regiment, Corporal Darren Clemie, said: “I wanted to stay in the military and only found out about the discharge when I wasn’t paid.”
